NFL Week 7 in Review part 1

Week 7 in the NFL has come and gone, there were 13 games on the docket, some of which were down right dreadful (4 teams didn’t even score a TD, including Jacksonville and Cleveland which won their respective games), and others that might have provided some insight to how the season will play out for the teams involved.

Cleveland 6 Seattle 3

This game downright stunk, as neither team scored a TD, and Cleveland was able to win on a pair of 50 plus yard field goals by Phil Dawson, who also had to FG attempts blocked.

Atlanta 23 Detroit 16

Matty Ice and the Falcons won their second straight against the lions who lost their second straight home game.  The Falcons attack was led by Michael Turner who rushed for 122 yards, while Matt Ryan threw for 1 TD and ran another TD in.  This game had some controversy when some players of the Lions including Ndamukong Suh allegedly taunted and injured Matt Ryan in the third quarter.  Lions QB Matt Stafford was injured on the final pass of the game and is now wearing a walking boot, this would be a huge injury that could cripple the lions resurgence this year.

Houston 41 Tennessee 7

Arian Foster had 234 total yards and 3 td’s to lead the Texans to a huge win in this divisional matchup.  While his counterpart Chris Johnson didn’t even show up for the game (rushing for 18 yards).  In Nashville Chris Johnson’s face will be featured on milk cartoons as a missing person, police believe the prime suspect is Joe Wakeford who recently had been quoted as saying “I hate that n***** Chris Johnson, if I ever see him i’m a pop a cap in his black ass”.

Denver 18 Miami 15

Tim Tebow proved doubters right as he stunk for 55 minutes as the Dolphins led 15-0 with 5 minutes left, but then Tebow proved all his supporters right that he is a winner as he threw for 2 td’s and called his own number on a 2 point conversion that everyone in the building new was a QB draw except for the 11 Miami defenders and Tony Sparano and his coaching staff.  Matt Prater kicked a gw fg of 52 yards to give Tebow another come from behind victory in his young career.  The inept Dolphins failed to recover and onside kick and failed to score on 2 OT possessions including the final one which QB Matt Moore fumbled which setup the Denver FG.

NY Jets 27 San Diego 21

Plaxico Burress was finally released from prison and he struck for 3 td’s to lead the jets to a come from behind victory over the Chargers.  Chargers QB Phil Rivers stunk up the  joint in the second half, including a dreadful 2 minute offense drive which ended with him throwing the ball out-of-bounds on 4th down.

Chicago 24 Tampa Bay 18

This game was played on the pitch in Wembley field, as Matt Forte led the attack for the Bears as he rushed for 145 yards to defeat the injury depleted Bucs who were without their top two running backs when Earnest Graham injured his ankle in the first quarter.  Josh Freeman threw 4 int’s including a final one which was intercepted at the Chicago 25 to seal the deal.

Carolina 33 Washington 20

Cam Newton continued his strong rookie season as he rushed for 2 td’s and veteran Steve Smith continued his resurgence with 143 receiving yards as they led the  panthers over struggling John Beck and the Redskins.  These two teams appear to be headed inseparate divisions as Carolina is on the rise and the Redskins stink, especially now that Tim Hightower is out for the year and Santana Moss appears to be out for a month or so.
